Dear Friends,

         PADETC and its Mot Khio - young volunteers, are doing a garbage recycling project.  We are starting with the municipality of Vientiane.    We are setting up a network of garbage collection points  in a number of places.   The recyclable garbage includes the following items:

1.      Paper of various types

2.      Plastics  (bottles and containers)

3.      Glasses and bottles

Note: at the moment we have no capacity to work with organic waste yet.

         The collection points buy these items by the weight.  The price list for each item is available at PADETC’s office and at the main collection point near Dong Dok.  Here is how you can participate.

 

Option 1: Separate and Sell

1.      Set up a small collection center in your office or in your village or at home

2.      Contact the buyer when you have enough to sell

  Option 2: Setting up a local collection point

1.      Ask some one in your office or in your village to be the local buyer.  PADETC will help train him or her on pricing and separation. 

2.      The local buyer arranges with every family in the vicinity as which day of the week he or she will buy the separated garbage.

3.      When the local buyer accumulates enough garbage for one truck load he or she calls the main buyer near Dong Dok for delivery.  The main buyer telephone number is :  

  Option 3: Be a promoter of garbage separation and recycling

1.      Introduce the system of collection to school or to you village buy discussing it with the relevant authorities.

2.      Contact PADETC to help conduct a training
